So, on my return to Montreal, I did grade 12 and got my senior matriculation. Then followed 2 years at McGill. In 1963 I left Canada for Germany to attend university there, since it was my ambition to become an interpreter. I was just about to return to Georgetown Universitythe tickets were bought, my bags were packed and all that remained was to say goodbyewhen lightning struck. I met Ulrich, the man who was destined to become my husband.
I unpacked my bags, and finished university in Germany. We got married in 1968the same year in which so many others were burning their bras and proclaiming marriage to be an outdated institution. We moved to Göttingen, where Ulrich, a doctor, worked at the University Hospital. I got a teaching degree and taught English at an agricultural college. We later moved to Leverkusen and then to Peine where we have been living since 1976, with Ulrich working at the hospital and me teaching English. Our married name is Neeb.
We have two children. Our daughter, Katarina, is a teacher in Heidelberg, and the mother of our lovely granddaughter, Karlotta. Our son, Mattias, has just completed his PhD.
Ulrich had to retire from the hospital at the statutory age of 65, but as he loves his profession he is now working as a GP in the German army.
Part of our "marital agreement" was one trip a year to Canadaand so it has been every year since 1968. This has enabled me to get together with Meredith (Evans) Webster several times. In the summer of 2006 we visited Monty (Don) MacLean at Lake Memphramagogand we even recognized each other!
We have done a quite a lot of travelling, fequently taking a March vacation in the Virgin Islands where my parents had a condo. As I hate flying we have taken the boat back on several occasions. On the whole, life has been good to us. I hope it has been to you, too.
