Going Back

Congratulations! You have successfully followed a link to another page. Your next task is to get back to the page you just left. To do so, you have two choices. It is recommended that you read this whole page (which is very short) before you click on any links.

First Choice
Press your browser's "Back Button", which is located at the top left of your Browser.
(The images below are just pictures of back buttons, not real ones.)

If you are using Firefox, the Back button looks like this

If you are using Internet Explorer, it looks like this

If you put the mouse pointer over the Back button (the real one in the Address Bar at the top, not one of the pictures), you will notice that it does not turn into a white hand! Why not? Because the Back Button is not a hyperlink. It is one of the browser's control buttons. You could think of the Back button as being part of the picture frame (the browser), whereas a hyperlink is part of the picture (the Web page) contained within the frame.

Second Choice
So that you can see the difference, try holding the mouse pointer over this arrow   . The arrow is a hyperlink that is part of the content of this page. The mouse pointer should turn into a white hand. (If it doesn't, tell the course author and watch his face turn into a red turnip.) If you click on the arrow, you will be taken back to where you came from.

Make a choice—or choose both!
Try one of these two methods (the Back button or the white arrow) now. There is nothing to stop you from going back and forth between this page and the one you came from several times, so that you can try both methods.

Good Luck!
